I am from the tribe Julius Caesar called the bravest
Belgae
Oh - you mean those people that issued one of my favourite ancient coins:
Gallia Belgica (from the Seine to the Rhine), the Remi. Cast Potin (4.13 gm, 12h, 21mm), ca. 100-60 BC. Obv.: Male figure (druid?) with hair in a long plait, running right, holding spear and torc. Rev.: Wolf (?), right, gnawing on prey; above, fibula. BMC 501 ff. DLT 8124. DT 155. Scheers 191. This is a cute coin in my opinion. One aspect of Celtic coins that is quite fascinating is their stylised imagery. This mysterious piece is a popular one because of the man on the obverse of the piece and his resemblance to a Gnome.
The Celts resided in much of Europe, from the British Isles to the mouth of the Danube River in what is now Romania. Their vibrant culture, celebrated in myth and legend, remains a bit of an enigma to this day. For coin designs they often "borrowed" designs from nearby Greek or Roman states coins, but their own designs were often stylised and quite attractive.
A big welcome to the Knight's forum.
I love that movie, Paint Your Wagon. I thought the music was great, especially, I Was Born Under A Wondering Star.
Glad to have you here in our new castle but could you tell us exactly what country you do live in as history for many is NOT a strong point! One thing is for certain, if you like international coin collecting, you have found the right place as that is our strong point!
G'day and welcome from"down under'.
regards,
Never mind an explanation Paint Your Wagon!!! I checked the membership roster and darn if that email address didn't ring a bell! I am sure Old Dan will be just as thrilled as I to see you here with us.
Welcome to the Castle! Glad to meet you. :D
Welcome back.
Why did you pick Paint Your Wagon as your logon name. Must be an interesting story here.
Hi you guys
you guessed of course I am knigth 007
First I managed to crash the D partition of my new computer on 8 octobre installing Norton goback version 4.02
and it took me 24 hours to figure out that my new protection was killing me ??? and delete it ???
So I only was able to read the forum now
I used the same forum name on more then 20 forums and decided I wanted it more difficult to be webcrawled
( I left visiting 16 of those forums anyway ) and 80% of the spam is using that name and address
I have three musical videos I will play again and again one is My Fair Lady the other is Oliver Twist and the third is Paint Your Wagon with the lovable Lee Marvin who turned out too small as avatar
http://www.stars-of-old.com/pwphotogallery.html (http://www.stars-of-old.com/pwphotogallery.html)
Now since I expect a very large gold price surge and just retired and am building my home computer system
the tune I am on my way keeps repeating in my mind allthough I like I was born under a wandering star a lot better
Unfortunately all of ebay germany and france vendors are expecting fireworks too , so I am not getting much at melt since june when the holiday season started
I will be modifying my puter system for another six weeks I expect and then I got that Canon 30 D to experiment with
So if Old Dan thinks being retired is fun then I have to say I wanted to do too much in too short a time 8)
Now Old Dan do not forget that you promissed me a seat on your side of the table :-\

I only remember the Julian Caesar quote that the Belgae were the bravest of all Gallians
and of course that they liked to drink Meade
Your knowledge is absolutely amazing
Welcome home Paint Your Wagon! It means a lot to have our European Knight and representitive back with us. Hope you like this little castle we have been working on. I must say you are far ahead of me when it comes to computer problems. My answer woud be take it out back and use a shotgun on it but in my heart I know it would taste bad no matter how I cooked it!
To paraphrase a sentence of Paint you wagon
There is gold in thar puters
About 4 grams or so per 1000 kilogram
which is better then many mines were you have to brake stone
My problem now is that I want to try too many programs before buying them and most are junk
I have a hard and soft firewall (done)
I now am deciding on the virusprotection cause I got 2 active shields and two full cleaners
If I get it configured I will go with Norton Ghost as a daily back up but windows XP pro keeps a hidden recycler which blows up the hard disk by keeping unaccessable old back ups and old deletes . I managed to penetrate this but and the subfiles
so once I know I do not want 8 week old programs I can purge that too
And then I got to find a gizmo to attempt and correct my famous scanner parrallel to XP probably usb
PYW, as far as I am concerned, anything Norton puts out is junk that does as much damage to your computer as viruses.
I highly recommend using AVG software, which is free to download. You can find it at http://www.grisoft.com
I back that up by using Spybot Search and Destroy. http://www.spybot.info/
It contains an immunizer that helps block spyware and malware from your computer.
And then I run Adaware periodically, just for overkill. http://www.lavasoft.com/
All three are excellent programs, that are totally free to use. They do have versions with many more bells and whistles for purchase, should you enjoy them.
Thank you Old Dan
Lady Kitty
I ran Norton firewall and antivirus and system works for 10 years
most of the other Norton products were a pain and integration between products of a different release year is a nightmare
CCapp the mastercontroler crashes daily on my win98 sytem each time live update runs
I am paid up till may next year and then I will put the internet plug on the 98 system
I have spybot search and destroy as back up and adaware as backup on boths systems
I have the full trial version of Norton internet security 90 days for free ( they promised me Norton 360 but it seems the promise was not for a European )
I also have the full trial version for AVG 7.5 for 30 days with shield included
Yesterday AVG did not move but Norton said part of a Virus had gotten throught the autodefend and to scan immidiately
I scanned immidiately and removed the virus
So I decided somewhat reluctantly to pay Norton for another year of antivirus since even full AVG did not cut it
AVG is loosing too much time on cookie trackers whilst the real danger these days is in zip or rar files and multiple attacks after diabling alt ctrl del
The best defence is still to unplug the internet and take it from there running Hijack this and analysing the run and killing the bad program that took over the computer manually and then run all antivirus programs
The thing I like in Norton is Ghost which makes a ghost copy of one drive to a back up drive every hour if you want
On my Windows box, I use AVG, and I've never had a problem. For most of my internet surfing, though, I use alternative OSes, usually Linux or Solaris, which aren't anywhere near as vulnerable to viruses. It's a shame that you can't run Windows from a CD like you can Linux. Then you could have a PC with no hard drive just for surfing the internet and there would be no way to get, let alone retain a virus, as they don't remain in a RAM drive. Unfortunately, it's one of the dangers of Windows. :(
For what it is worth this website is Linux!
I figured out who Paint Your Wagon was right away.
Good to have you back!!
:) :) :) :)
Good to see you made it PYW! Welcome. :)

I'm still working on it. Don't give it away, yet.
Topher
I live a dangerous internet live :( :( :(
Seems like every news site and every investor site or every goldforum site is either selling my email address or sadling me up with tracker cookies or worse
AVG makes a bid deal out of trackers calling them middling dangerous ; is that so ?
Yesterday I started by going into msconfig because Logitech messenger alone decided it needed like 10 helpprogrammas running (when I run Hijackthis I have two pages of useless booted garbage )
Problem is I do not know what is needed outside explorer so I will have to identify the non Norton Symantic programs one by one
and I do not know what to do with all those Toshiba programs that start themselves on boot
On my win98 I weedled it down from 30 to 10 bootup programs
Norton system doctor keeps complaining it cannot repair because some program had unique access to C
I hope it is not xp because I want Norton Doctor up and running
I spend two hours yesterday untill XP pro decided to run an hours long diagnostics for what turned out to be a few lost clusters but that little problem made Ghost say error cannot read blocks etc ... anather 3 hours lost trying to Ghost who was not willing
Well someday I will start to make coin fotos again lol
