I do have a couple of older coins from Scandinavia, but they are barely legible.
First one is a 1666 Sweden 1 ore, and the second one is 1671 Sweden 1/6 ore.

Lets try something from my favourite period - Queen Victoria. A 1881 Gothic Florin my best of this high relief design that wore out really fast.

Fits the theme of this forum board too, its not medieval but heavily uses the gothic style and sums up the Victorian obsession with gothic revival and romanticising the medieval world.

We are still in a medieval looking castle except the stained glass windows are in modern readable English, Central heating viaducts, regular rooms, neat stonework and built in drainage pipes and the lack of patched on rooms, rebuilds arrow and cannon holes you expect in a genuinely medieval building.

Its a good coin and issued just before the decimal krone was introduced in 1872.

Here is my oldest Danish coin for you, a Hvid from 1677.

This is a 2 skilling coin and basically billon, in this case really billon (28/1% silver) and the coin appears more coppery in the photo than it is. Its usually more silvery when fresh, but it wears off like mine. Again this only cost about $10.

My second oldest coin is another story from 1693 an old Krone which was 2/3 a Thaler and much more silver (5/6 or 83/3%) and I bought in an auction of Europeancoins from 1600 to 1900 and this was the best piece. Worth around $500.

Its the same king on both coins - Christian V (1670 -1699)

Australian Coins / 1981 Charles & Diana 50 Cents ...

Found this in the till at work.
Looks like it's come straight out of one of these old sets, where the plastic makes the coins tone. Looks in real nice condition in hand. My photo doesn't do it justice.

Can't beat some nice silver coins. Unfortunately, most of my Denmark coins are base metals.
