Welcome DL20K to our castle. It is very good to have a Polish Knight collecting with us. Many of us have Poland's Knight coins in our collection and look forward to seeing what you collect and what your country will provide for world collectors in the future. Hope to see you here frequently so jump right in and post often.

Hello, thanks for the invitation and welcome thread  :)

I started collecting (or rather gathering) coins when I was a child, I suppose I was about 10 then. More recently, I've restricted the collecting to South-east Asian coins (Japan, Korea, China, Burma, Hong-Kong, Singapore, Vietnam, Laos) with an emphasis on the first of these countries. Some of the designs of Japanese coins are just irresistable for me ;)
About 6 weeks ago, when I finally sorted all the coins accumulated through the years, I found 12 US ones. Since they looked as a very interesting set together, and were in quite good condition, I have asked Certain People  ;D  if what I had made a good start for a collection. Since the reply was very encouraging, I started my US collection. I have since received several modern US coins to add to the ones I found, bought the relevant books, and even upgraded one of the coins.

It is not easy to collect these coins in Poland due to the supply of both Japanese and any better US coins which is minimal. In addition, many US coins are overpriced, up to 5 times (as I've recently noticed by comparing them with the Red Book). Graded coins do exist, however the grading done here is sloppy and unreliable. Should a coin graded XF40 look exactly like a book example for VG8?

If anyone needs any modern Polish coins, please contact me. They are right there waiting for you  ;)

Hello, Nighthawk! It is always nice to find a fellow Pole in a ''foreign'' place on the net  :)

What I wanted to add. I said "Certain People" in the post above as I was unsure if mentioning other forums was allowed here. Some sites for reasons unknown to me disapprove of mentioning other sites. Now, since I see, there are no such unreasonable rules, I can say that the people I mentioned were CCF members.
The first to reply to my "are my US coins any good" question was.. I checked the archives today.. Knight Elle Kitty [:)] Also people known by as Eaglefoot, Jbuck, Vermontensium and many others encouraged me to take up US coin collecting.

And to finish the question and answer session:
"May we have your real name?" - Pawel what menas Paul.
"Have you been a member of other internet Coin Forums?" - yes, the aforementioned CCF.
"Do you enjoy trading coins with others?" - very much so  :D And I would hereby to thank everyone who traded with me.

P.S. do I get a Knight number?

Welcome DL20K. You'll find a great group of honest, trustworthy people here.

It is a proviso of membership that you have an Australian coin. Do you have one? If not, PM me your address and I'll do my best to make you legit!

DL20K

I've got a "Commonwealth of Australia" one penny dated 1928. I hope it counts.
There is a story to it as well. When I was buying something at the only dealer's store here, I found the prices somewhat high and requested a reduction of $5. To which the dealer said "I cannot sell those that cheap, but I can give you this" and came back with the Australian coin. Then he went on to say how rare it is, "because it's the earlier type than the Kangaroo".  ;D
