Hello, Thank you for accepting me into your group.  I am pretty new to collecting numismatic coins, and it all started with a stack of silver eagles. I was really interested in just buying silver at first since the price seemed to be beaten down recently, and seems to have hit a floor.  Once I had a few silver eagles, I found there were so many other cool collectible silver coins out there.  My current favorites are Norfeds, very interesting history there, and they look awesome.  I am also very interested in the Daniel Carr pieces, and the SBSS collection.  I haven't bought any silver eagles since that first handful since there are so many cooler coins and tokens out there.  Pretty much anything shiny, rare, and collectible can usually catch my eye.  I've become quite the silver bug, and there always seems to be more interesting coins that come across my path that I just "have to have". Hopefully I am in the right place here with some like minded people. Thank you for the kind words in this thread.

Well I am glad you like Daniel Carrs work. He is a member here, but does not drop in very often. He has designed all our metal medals. You won't pick these up for $20 an ounce, they have become quite collectable. Here's one to whet your appetite...
Can you tell me what Norfeds are, please?

Merlin, Humpybong, Triggersmob, Pocketcoins, Goose, Muckeye, Nevol, and Erik, Thank you for the welcome messages...

Triggersmob,  That is a very nice token, definitely won't find one like that for $20 an ounce.  Hopefully I will be able to gather a nice collection of the knights medallions over the years.  Norfeds are also known as Liberty Dollars. The story (and pictures of many versions of these silver gems) is told very well on this google forum:

I have a Liberty Dollar that I am about to send to the U.S.
If the package is opened would the dollar be seized?

No, your Ellis Island dollar coin will not be seized since this is an official  US coin made by the US Mint.

The Norfed Dollar/Liberty Dollar is not the same coin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberty_Dollar).

Triggersmob, here is a picture of what the obverse of a Norfed Liberty Dollar looks like. They were not minted by the US government. The obverse does very slightly, but it is pretty recognizable accept for the Dalas (another tough few to collect. There are pictures on the liberty google sight in the link a few posts ago). There were many different styles for the reverse side.  Some of them are pretty hard to find since the mintage was pretty low on some.  I doubt that you would have any trouble sending it unless you were trying to use it as a currency payment for something. It seems that they are fine to have as collectables, and I would feel comfortable sending them overseas. I looked at your huge collection (very nice) from the link below your name, and it seems that you already have a copper norfed under tokens.

SirStacksALot

Thanks for the welcome Templar.  How do you like all of this snow, it seem that you are just north of me.

Thanks SirStacksALot, didn't even realise that was a Norfed. You learn something new every day.
