My favourite collecting area by far and my biggest and best collection is England/Great Britain/United Kingdom. I will show various classics in my collection. Every coin show is mine and I bought it. I will show a mix from the 12th century to the 1940s.

It will take months and feel free to show your own!

First coin is a Willem of London minted long cross penny of Henry III, the coin dates to around 1253 and is a Class 5b of the Long Cross penny type (1247 - 1279)

PS Any coin before 1707 shown will be an English coin, rather than UK.

Here's some more for you, we moved to the time of King Henry VIII

I have 2 coins, a halfgroat and a groat to show here (2d and 4d).

The Halfgroat is of the 2nd coinage (1526 - 1544) but can be securely dated to a few months, coins this old generally did not have dates on them, that arrived a generation later. The coin was minted by the Archbishop of York as shown by the key mintmark, but because there are no initials which means "Sede Vacante" as Archbishops placed initials either side of the shield. This means it must date between Oct 1530 and June 1531 when Thomas Wolsey was stripped of his titles and before Edmund Lee took over as Archbishop of York. My coin is quite worn but okay.

The Groat is the same type but only a London Tower mint one not connected to any bishops, it was the main coin of the era, before sixpences and halfcrowns became commonplace. Both show Henry with Renaissance page boy hair, but the crude features of an oversized large man.

The coins were still issued with good silver, before the debasings of the later 1540s and the bloated King Hal 3rd coinage of 1544 - 1550.

Very nice Tane.
Coins that old are out of my league. I might be able to join in from 1737 onwards.

I hear you loud and clear, but you would be shocked how cheap some of these old coins are! That Henry III penny cost me just $120 and I got 2 cut halves of a Henry II penny (1180s) for just $50 each at the Brisbane show, even the Henrican groats cost around $200 each.

I intend to show some more regular and later UK coins here too, those creamy ones were merely eye catchers and my attempt to zazz this forum up a bit as I wean off Numista and all its friends of MAGA taking over the place.

Before I got carried away with Medieval and Tudor coins, I was vibing off buying silver Halfcrowns from WW2 era. I bought these 3 beauties in 2020 when I first really started blowing the collection out and these all cost me $20 each then (Impossible now due to silver price, but in 2020, silver was like NZ $35 an ounce. These are all UNC looking but actually only gEF or AU as all have slight wear. I still love these coins today, the photos don't do justice, these coins all gleam!
