I've got some classic comics from my mother and a heap of cigarette cards.
Not really a collector though. I should put them out so some real collector can get some value out of them, and maybe I'll get some money to invest in gold.

My favourite Morgans are of course the dearest ones. Carson City. Epic tales of the old west.

Tossing a silver dollar in the air and shooting it. (Oh the humanity).

Quote from: Tanecoins on October 25, 2026, 06:18:24 PMI added some silver and gold bullion to my stack last week including many diverse rounds.

I got 5 x Silver Maples from Canada, each 1 ounce
Also 4 Australians - 2 x Kangaroos this year, 2 Kookaburras this year and 2018 with old queen.
Also 3 x NZ Silver ferns (Non governmental private mint)

I also bought a quarter ounce Britannia gold piece, it was a one off $5k (NZ pesos) spend and that coin is gorgeous, shimmery and small!

All some more Aussie gold, 7 grams of Perth bars

Silver bullion is VERY HARD to photograph well

Gotta love the Britannias. And I have even managed to get the latest Kooka. Well done you.

They are beautiful, the 2021s are the most collectible with the mintmarks and lowest mintages. I jumped on the bandwagon late with 23s and 24s. But in 25 under Trumpite managers wanting Money, prices hot up to like US $200 or so per coin and sales salumped.

The US Mint brags on about how big a hit the 2026 coins - they would have been a hit because of the 250 celebrations, but the Trump gang have milked it for all its worth - like half ounce gold coins cost $5k and the rest. The World Cup soccer coins were a floparoo as well.

As for melting MS68 coins, I agree with poster below, I can't tell differences between 65 and 70, but if a coin has a milkspot, cloudy, damaged or poorly struck, it should be remelted. Mine are all fine and I suspect they would be at least MS68 and possibly 70. I only opened one with gloves, I find many spots if any on the capsules not coin.

It was definitely after your time, you would have been like 28 when it came out. You are only 4 years younger than my mother!

Now silly hobby number 4 - Prince as in the Musician. I got into him in 1991 and dug his music to the point of autistic obsession. I needed every song and every album and then that spread into books and in the early 1990s, very little had been written about him, as he was obsessed with songs about sex and did mostly funk and R&B music, most mainstream people only knew a few of his big hits like Purple Rain, 1999, Kiss, Raspberry Beret etc - but Prince made albums from 1978 until his death in 2016. As I got older and better off, I bought more, every album, single and old vinyl and new vinyl records, then books on him new and second hand.

Prince is by far one of my most expensive and consuming hobbies. His estate keeps releasing new albums and music all the time as Prince was very prolific and left a vault full of unreleased music and made music for many other artists, most were obscure but he wrote some massive hits like Sinead O'Connor's 1990 smash - Nothing Compares 2 U, which was originally written for a Prince satellite in 1985 called the Family and Love Thy will be done. Prince was also behind Madonna's 1989 album Like a Prayer in which he played guitar and produced, and yet loved to operate under non de plumes.
