Thank you all for the warm welcome!  I'm excited about joining KOTCT and want to thank "nighthawk" for the invitation to join.

So here's some info about me.  I was originally born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, but am a citizen of the U.S. and live in Michigan.  I am married and have two children.  My daughter (our eldest) is engaged and we are planning her wedding for next October.  My son is married and is stationed in Korea.

I started collecting coins by way of metal detecting (I have several hobbies, including gardening, birdwatching, and making beaded jewelry).  I'd accumulated a few coins while metal detecting, and also from traveling, and decided to learn more about the coins I had, so I attended a Northwest Detroit Coin Club meeting about five years ago.  This piqued my interest in coin collecting, so I joined NWDCC.    Another NWDCC member, whom you know as "nighthawk," invited me to take a look at KOTCT and consider joining.  So, here I am!

I've acquired/collected a few coins since joining NWDCC and find I really like silver.  (I have a little gold, too, but it's just too pricey to collect).  I have American, Canadian, Mexican, Australian, European,  Asian, and ancient coins (about four), as well as silver eagles, and an occasional token.  I acquired some coins from our local police auction.  So, like most collectors I've a pretty good variety.  Lots of my coins are silver, but many are not.

I've decided to focus mostly on silver eagles (as bullion) and silver dollars.  But, as I said earlier, I like silver so I have a tendancy to stray in that direction with other coins.  I recently purchased the Canadian triangle Dairy coin with the milk cow on it.  It's really nice, with its enamel obverse on one ounce of silver.

ElleKitty said it is a tradition for KOTCT members to have at least one Australian coin.  My Australian coins, (I have eight) are: 1927, 1935 and 1936 pennies (bronze); 1960 threepence; 1960 florin (silver); 1963 sixpence (silver); 1963 shilling (I'm not sure how much a shilling is); and a 1989 Koala (silver, I really like this one!).

I like the idea of trading and will have to start going through my collection.  Please let me know what you're interested in.  Most of my foreign coins are recent mintages, but I do have some early 1900's.

I have enjoyed looking at some great photos on you website and I look forward to meeting you all and sitting down at your table to explore the KOTCT castle!    :)

Let me welcome you again ;D I think you'll fit in well here. And like you, I love the silver too. Including silver eagles. I really like the proof eagles best though. I hope you enjoy your time here at the Castle!

Hehe, I'm a REALLY BIG silver fan too :) I look for US coins in trade so we could always trade there :)

latman

Another big silver fan here as well. And like Justa, trading Aussie coins for US as well. Fortunately, he doesn't collect what I collect.  ;D

And so glad to see you are posting. Welcome again.

Hehe... Sean I could always get started on Shillings :) Just need some motivation... =D
