Years ago I was in daddyland (a bar) and a guy had a counterfeit U S $5 bill. I had none in my collection, just real notes. He wasn't trying to pass it off and I offered him $6 for it, just to have it. He 'sold' it and I took it home and sealed it in plexiglass. Time went on and one day the guys wanted to go to a beach and scope out girls. I was going to drive and my gas tank was on.....well, sort of empty and I was a little low on money for gas (Broke). Bong....an idea! Took me a long time to get the counterfeit $5 out of its prison, but I did and purchased around 15 gallons of gas with the counterfeit (Gas around 35 cent/gallon then) I hope the statute of limitations has passed....a confession on the net some xx years later.

I own quite a few pieces of funny money, advertising and otherwise. There's a fellow in my coin club who likes making what he calls "Notegeld", for commemorative occasions such as club events, family anniversaries etc. For design inspiration he usually uses (heavily modified) Australian notes on the front, and modified elements from JIM notes on the back.

I've got a couple on file here somewhere, I think.

Here's one he did to advertise the guest speaker at the June 2014 QNS meeting, an old one he made for the 21st anniversary of the QNS back in 2007 and one he did for, well, me.
